All to often I hear from customers that they either did not know that a particular option was part of a package or they did not realize how import that option would be to them. These two reason account for 4 out of 5 of my customers installs. This is where Bimmer-Tech comes in with innovative retrofit kits to bring these high demand options to these cars. In this case the PDC (Park Distance Control) for an F30 3 series. Bimmertech Link
This install is more involved then the typical Bimmer-Tech kit and uses all OE components.
To start with lets look at the sensors, these sensors have to be mounted through the bumper so holes will have to be drilled. This customer opted to have the color matched sensors, which completes the OE look on this kit.
In this shot you can see that the sensor matches the bumper exactly, only challenging part here is to drill the holes straight 😉
Next up with the bumper removed I have access to the passenger side area where the sensor wire harness will be fed through the chassis of the car. Since this car was not optioned with the PDC from the factory the hole was never cut for the harness to fit through, so one had to be made. I used the factory location to avoid any issues. This car was not marked but I have seen a couple that had marks on the chassis.
Here you can see the hole after it was drilled:
Here is the wire harness with weather seal on it. All OE components used again for proper fit and finish.

Now to get everything wired up, routing the sensor wires into the cars harness using all OE pins etc.
This is the new module for that includes PDC:
Wrapping things up here is the before and after of the rear bumper:
